The Kuttiyadi coconut tree is a tall variety of coconut palm (Cocos nucifera L.) originating from Kuttiyadi, a region 30 kilometers from Kozhikode (Calicut) in Kerala, India. It's renowned for its high yield and long lifespan.

Here's a short description:

 * Height: Typically grows to a height of 50-70 feet, with a sturdy stem.

 * Yield: Known for producing a large number of coconuts, with a tree potentially yielding up to 200 coconuts a year, though the average is around 40. The fruit hangs in clusters of 10-15.

 * Lifespan: These palms have a long life, often bearing fruit for 80-100 years. They usually begin flowering 5-6 years after planting.

 * Adaptability: It thrives in various soil conditions, from littoral sands to red loams and laterites, and is fairly resistant to pests and diseases.

 * Fruit Characteristics: The nuts are medium to large in size, varying in shape from spheroid to linear-oblong, and can be green, yellow, or orange. They produce good quality copra with a high oil content.

 * Growing Conditions: Prefers full sunshine, well-draining soil, and a warm, humid climate with average temperatures between 22-38°C and ample rainfall.

The Kuttiyadi coconut tree is considered a vital crop, providing not only nutritious food and refreshing drink but also oil, fiber, fuel, and timber, making it a "Kalpavriksha" (wish-fulfilling tree) in India.
